Early life

He was born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India on 1o june 1972.  His full name was Pichai Sundaresan. His father Regunathan Pichai, worked as an electrical engineer for the British conglomerate GEC and managed a factory that made electrical components.

His mother used to be a stenographer. He has one brother.

Education

Pichai completed schooling in Jawahar Vidyalaya, a Central board of secondary education school in Ashok Nagar, Chennai and completed class 12 from Bana Vani school in Madras.

He was very fond of playing cricket. he had a better skill of team management. During schooling, he used to be the captain of his school cricket team.

When he was only 12 years old, he memorized all the numbers of his father’s phone.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from IIT Kharagpur in metallurgical engineering. He holds an M.S. in material science & engineering from Stanford University. He also earned an MBA degree from the Wharton school of the University of Pennsylvania.

Carrer

Pichai worked in engineering and product management at applied material and in management consulting at McKinsey and company.

Pichai joined Google in 2004, where he led the product management and innovation efforts for a suite of Google’s clients software products, including Google Chrome and Google OS as well as being largely responsible for Google drive.

He then oversees the development of different applications such as Gmail and Google maps.

Google Chrome

The success of Google’s toolbar gave Pichai the consideration that Google should develop its own browser. He discussed his idea with his seniors but faced an objection then CEO Eric Schmidt.

However, Pichai sustained and convinced the CO founders of Google, Larry Page and Sergey Brin to launch Google’s own browser. Pichai played a key role in the ultimate launch of the browser, Google Chrome, in 2008.

Chrome proves to be a remarkable success as it allowed the users to directly access Google’s search engine.

Pichai became an internationally figure after the phenomenal success of Chrome, becoming the number one browser in the world, surpassing competitors such as internet explorer and Firefox.

On March 13, 2013, Pichai added Android to the list of Google products that he overseas Android was formally managed by Andy Rubin.

Pichai was selected to become the CEO of Google on August 10, 2015, after previously being appointed product chief by CEO, Larry Page.
